WASL to Be Replaced in Spring of 2010 by WCAP Exams
Randy Dorn, the newly elected Superintendent of Public Instruction for Washington State recently announced plans to replace the WASL by spring of 2010. The Washington Assessment of Student Learning will be replaced by two tests, one for grades 3-8 and the other for high school. The exam for elementary and middle schools will be called the Measurements of Student Progress (MSP), and the high school exam will be called the High School Proficiency Exams (HSPE). Both exams will fall under the label of the Washington Comprehensive Assessment Program (WCAP).
